Black Excellence Speech

Hello everyone,

My name is Tiara Christopher, and I am honored to stand before you today at this incredible Black Excellence event. As I share my story, I hope it serves as a testament to the resilience, strength, and boundless potential within each of us.

I grew up navigating the foster care system, a place where hope can often feel like a distant dream. Despite the challenges and the odds stacked against me, I persevered. My journey was far from easy, marked by severe trauma, including surviving domestic violence and the heart-wrenching pain of not knowing if I would ever see my child again. These experiences could have broken me, but instead, they fueled my determination to rise above.

Education became my refuge and my weapon against adversity. I earned degrees in speech and rhetoric, communication, and psychology, each one a stepping stone towards understanding myself and the world around me. Knowledge is power, and I used that power to transform my pain into purpose.

Today, I am a trauma specialist, a public speaker, a certified yoga instructor, and an aspiring best-selling author. I share my story not just to recount my past but to inspire others to see the possibilities within their own lives. My mission is to break generational curses and to show that no matter where you start, your future is yours to shape.

Through my books, speeches, and trauma-focused yoga sessions, I aim to impart a message of hope and resilience. As parents, mentors, and community members, we must never give up on our children. They look to us for guidance, love, and support. Let us be their pillars of strength, ensuring they grow up with the confidence and courage to face the world.

Where am I going? I am on a path to inspire, to heal, and to empower. I am committed to helping others transform their pain into purpose, just as I have. I envision a future where every child, regardless of their background, can dream big and achieve greatness.
